Rules for carrying parcels

Items that must not be sent

On Crowdmail it is forbidden to post listings about delivering, or to hand to fellow travellers, parcels containing:

  • narcotic, psychotropic and potent substances, and their precursors;
  • any food or goods containing narcotic or psychotropic substances (for example sweets, gummies or baked goods with cannabis/THC);
  • firearms, bladed, air and any other weapons, their parts and ammunition;
  • explosives, explosive devices, pyrotechnics, fireworks and signal flares;
  • biologically dangerous materials, infectious and toxic substances, poisons;
  • radioactive and poisonous substances;
  • animal and plant derivatives whose trade is restricted: hides, bones, horns, parts of endangered species (CITES) and similar items;
  • flammable, caustic and corrosive substances;
  • military and dual-use goods, including those disguised as civilian ones (components, optics, electronics, communications equipment and the like);
  • counterfeit goods and fakes of well-known brands, as well as pirated copies of films, music, games and software;
  • any items and substances whose circulation is restricted or prohibited by law.

Listings that break these rules are removed without warning. The sender is fully responsible for the contents of the parcel. Never agree to carry a parcel whose contents you do not know.

In addition, when ordering delivery of parcels, senders should take into account the rules for carrying cargo in Russia and other countries on the various kinds of transport. The restrictions depend on the country of departure and arrival and on the type of transport, and may differ from those given below — check the current requirements with the carrier and the customs authorities of the countries concerned. The limits below apply to Russia and are given as an example.

International air transport rules forbid carrying the following items on aircraft:

  • caustic and corrosive substances such as mercury, acids and alkalis;
  • flammable solids and liquids: matches, paints, petrol.
